Minneapolis, MN / December 8, 2017: 
In 2015, Brynn Arens and Clay Howard joined forces to record “Who the Hell is Clay Howard?” after Clay sent a blind note asking if the Minneapolis producer and FLIPP frontman would play a guitar solo on a song.

Did the two know each other? No, but that didn’t stop them from forming a bond, in both friendship and in music. One album and two EPs later, the two are poised to release another collaboration- a series of cover songs celebrating some of their favorite music of the last 50 years. This collaboration is being released under the name DIG.

The lead-off single is an interpretation of the classic “Surrender” from Cheap Trick.

That this song and this artist was chosen is not surprising, Clay first learned of FLIPP and Brynn Arens when FLIPP toured with Cheap Trick in 1997. Both musicians have long counted Cheap Trick among their favorite artists, and Brynn has not only toured with, but also collaborated with members of the band in studio.

“We both grew up with Cheap Trick as a big part of our soundtrack,” said Brynn Arens. “As we were working on Clay’s solo releases, we would also record a cover song here or there, and we eventually said- we should do a Cheap Trick song.” 

“When Brynn suggested doing “Surrender” I was all-in,” continued Clay. “But I never expected what he sent me!”
